The three star "Szydłowski" hotel tempts with its coziness, as well as with its newness and an atmosphere of a bygone age. The building of the hotel is adapted to the art déco style, the rooms are kept in a traditional, classical style, where the atmosphere of the interiors counts more than a forced modernity, which can be found in other hotels. In the "Szydłowski" you are surrounded by many interesting paintings and stylish furniture. The sweet smell of pastry and fresh bread, including the specialty of the house - the Neptune buns, from the own bakery adds to the special charm (and taste) of this hotel.
It is a good choice, if you care for staying as close as possible to the airport and for a good connection with Gdansk and its surroundings. On the part of the owner it would not be a bad idea to install air-conditioning in the standard single and double rooms and improve the soundproofing in some rooms.
With the staff at the reception you can communicate in English, German and Russian.
Rooms
The guests have thirty five comfortable rooms at their disposal and among them twenty one double rooms, nine single rooms, two high-standard double rooms, as well as three luxurious apartments. In each you will find a telephone, a mini bar, a radio, satellite television and a big bathroom.
In the arrangement of the rooms, especially of the apartments, you can see great attention to detail and a will to recreate the atmosphere of the roaring twenties. Admittedly, the owners succeeded sensationally in this.
The classical interiors do not lack modernity - a wireless, and what is more important, free internet connection will surely be very important for guests traveling with their own laptop. However, if you care for room service and air-conditioning, it is better to choose a high-standard double room or one of the apartments.
One room is adapted to the needs of disabled people. In the house there is also an elevator.
Non-smokers have one floor at their disposal.
Restaurant
The restaurant, the café and the own bakery are the big trumps of the "Szydłowski" hotel. You even do not have to wait for breakfast (for which it is worth to put much time aside) to start at 6.30 a.m. your culinary adventure. Exactly at this time the "Pastelowa" café opens its doors to guests and invites you for a cup of coffee, fresh baked pastry and deliciously composed desserts. A family tradition of many decades and excellent receipts tempt to eat the homemade cakes three to five times a day. Luckily the "Szydłowski" has also a restaurant, where you can eat a wholesome dinner and come back to the café, but not later than at midnight when it is closed. The elegant, pastel interiors of the café have lots of charm. The attempt to recreate the atmosphere of the art déco era went off very well also here. The result is a uniformity of style in the whole building.
The restaurant "Sonata" specializes in Polish cuisine, offering also a decent choice of international meals. Among different propositions, the soup"Baker's zurek in rye bread" is especially attractive, after which comes "Veal in Gorgonzola sauce" and finally the "Ice Sonata" - a cup of ice cream with fruit. Worth trying are innovative vegetable-fruit salads that accompany meals with fish, game and poultry. The average cost of dinner is 50 to 60 PLN.
Conference rooms
The conference facilities of the hotel are two air-conditioned conference rooms for fifteen to thirty five people. They are equipped with a screen, a flipchart, amplification equipment, an overhead projector and writing materials. However you have to pay additionally for a multimedia projector. It is possible to enlarge the conference rooms, so that even fifty people can meet at once.
The "Sonata" restaurant ensures a professional attendance to coffee breaks and a choice of inexpensive meals for dinner.
The beautiful, atmospheric décor of the restaurant causes that even business groups can meet here in the evening on an official banquet or an informal meeting.
Additional Services
After a day of sightseeing or meetings, you can relax a little in the sauna. For deeper relaxation the hotel offers massages. You have to pay additionally for this service, but in comparison to its quality it is not unpleasant to the pocket.
The possibility of using the parking lot and the wireless internet connection is included in the hotel rate.
On request the hotel can arrange transportation by taxi from the airport. This costs 40 PLN.
When traveling to Gdansk you can also take your pets to the "Szydłowski". This costs 30 PLN a day, which is a rather low price.
At the reception you can use the fax and the Xerox, the staff would very much like to advise you what is worth seeing in Gdansk and helps to organize transportation, as well as tickets to different events.
Prices include breakfast and VAT.
