The hotel deserves a great applause for its location. For guests staying at the Holiday Inn, the most attractive part of Gdansk is served on a plate. The Old Town with its historic tenement houses and beautiful views reminiscent of Amsterdam is within walking distance, near the hotel there is a shopping centre, a multiplex cinema and quite a good choice of restaurants.
Getting off a train at the Main Station, we can see the Holiday Inn in front of us; it's enough just to cross the street. There is also a direct bus from the airport to the hotel.
Holiday Inn knows how to achieve high standard of service wherever it appears and in Gdansk they've managed to do that without a doubt.
There's the high standard of rooms, a versatile conference offer for business clients, a modern recreation centre with a gym and a sauna. The only thing one could wish for is a swimming pool, which unfortunately isn't available.
Fans of American cuisine will certainly remember the hotel - its superbly decorated restaurant is the “T.G.I. Friday's".
Rooms
At the Holiday Inn we must have good facilities for work and even better ones for relaxation.
That's why we'll find large, comfortable beds, a mini-bar, quite a good selection of TV channels, pay-TV programs, a coffee/tea maker and individually-controlled air-conditioning. At absolutely no point of our stay at the hotel we'll have to be concerned with cleanliness.
Contact with the outside world is ensured by telephone, permanent internet connection and if we need to send a fax or print something, we can use the services of the Business Centre.
The Holiday Inn doesn't cram its guests into small rooms. We have a large and nicely (although without any enchanting decorative accents) furnished room.
Most rooms are standard doubles; apartments are also available. It's worth asking for a room whose windows don't face the street; then we'd be able to enjoy peace and quiet at any time.
Good news for non-smokers: two thirds of the hotel's rooms on separate floors wait only for them.
There are 2 rooms for the handicapped. The hotel is fully equipped to serve their needs.
Restaurant
Thanks to the 24-hour Room Service, whatever the hotel's restaurant offers, we can also eat in our room. But why not go downstairs and in addition to the "T.G.I. Friday's" American menu, also feel that unique ambience and casual atmosphere? There's no reason not to do that, quite contrary! The restaurant's decor is fabulous and inimitable! Energizing red color of the interior theme, smell of steaks (well done, medium rare, rare) in the air, a great number of motifs from the States takes us for a moment far, far away from Gdansk.
Lobby Bar, which unfortunately isn't very large, tempts with a wide selection of exotic coffees from all over the world, desserts, cocktails and drinks.
Conference rooms
The Holiday Inn is certainly a place designed for business travelers. 6 conference rooms, ranging in size from 20 to 300 square meters give many possibilities to organize various meetings and special events for groups larger than even 300 people.
Conference rooms are richly equipped in the latest multimedia gear, internet access, integrated sound system and fiber optic lines, making it possible to conduct on-line meetings.
There's also a Business Centre available, where courteous staff will help us to send a fax, print necessary documents, and also take care of many other things.
Additional Services
As befits a good, 4-star hotel, the Holiday Inn constantly thinks about how to fill their guests' free time and how to ensure their relaxation. A gym, a steam sauna, a solarium and a massage parlor wait to bring us back into shape, when we return to the hotel from sightseeing. We only pay extra for a massage, but this 100 PLN investment effectively brings back the desired balance to our body and mind.
Guests who have their own cars can leave them in a multi-storey car park near the hotel. The fee for 24 hours of parking is 40 PLN.
